It’s absolutely crazy how quickly 15 weeks can go by. I am sitting in my dorm room on one of the last nights of the semester and thinking that I could not be more grateful for Miami University and all that it has given me. I’ve had a full year of school before I started Xoxo, Kate B, so I am just going to look back on this past semester.
In August I moved in early for some before-school cheerleading practices. I got so much closer to my friends and it truly was a bonding experience. Practices were long and hard but 100% worth it because I really do believe that I became a better cheerleader from it all. I started classes at the very end of August and I wasn’t really sure if I was going to like them, but I was ready to get back into school and start football season.
September was crazy and we kicked off football season in the University of Iowa’s Kinnick Stadium. I have never cheered in front of 70,000 fans before, and it really was a life-changing experience. We had our first couple of home games and I got to see my parents for the first time in a month. I also decided that I really liked my classes and I was working really hard toward a 4.0 GPA.
In October I started the blog. I had one post that was published at the beginning of the month, and then I took a break to design it the way I wanted it. I joined the MUCFD (Miami University Club of Fashion and Design), and I added a Fashion minor to my Interactive Media major. I also celebrated 6 years of dating my boyfriend!
November might have been the most exciting month of my semester. The Cubs won the world series, and my team and I went to Niagara Falls! Also, our football team started off at 0-6, and by the end of the month, we ended up 6-6 and became bowl eligible. We made college football history, and I’ve never been more proud of our boys for beating the odds. Then I went home for Thanksgiving and got to spend lots of time with my family for the first time in a while, and it really was wonderful.
And now here we sit, almost in the middle of December, basketball season has started, and I’m almost ready to go home for five weeks. The football team is competing in the St. Petersburg Bowl in Florida, and I am so excited to spend Christmas down there and cheer them on.
This was definitely the best semester I’ve had so far at Miami, and I am seriously so happy to be here.
Xoxo, Kate B
